Mmm, mmm, mmm. I’m an unabashed knuckleball enthusiast so there is something so gratifyingly perfect about RA Dickey pitching 8.1 shutout innings during a day game in Queens. It just feels like baseball, you know? The fact that he did it on three days rest just proves that every team should spend as much time scouring Iowa for 30 year olds with knucklers as they do in Latin America scouting phenoms. He also shut down the two headed monster that is the Pujolsiday (Or Hollijols) as they went 0-8, stranding six runners.
Ike Davis, his average down to .252, hit a big three run home run and Mike Hessman got the start as David Wright took a breather after yesterday’s 13 inning affair. One of those was more influential in the victory, but I’m going to leave that up to you to decide. (Hint: It was Hessman’s start. The dude is heart personified.)
This Thursday past, I went to Flushing and caught my first ever NL game, and my first major league game outside of Toronto.
